Energy Saving Tips

The drawback about having such a high tech phone is that the batteries do not last as long as you would have liked. If you are sick and tired of having to constantly charge your smartphone, here are a couple of things that you can do:

  • Turn off bluetooth, wi-fi, and data services – If you are not going to use your phone to browse the internet then just turn off all the connectivity settings. If you are expecting an important email, just turn on the data services or Wi-Fi sparingly; just long enough for your email inbox to update itself.
  • Dim the screen brightness – If you really want your phone's batteries to last, adjust the screen brightness all the way to the dimmest setting, or if near it if you are having trouble seeing the screen.
  • Turn on auto-lock – This will allow the touchscreen to turn off and lock if the phone is left idle. For best results adjust the auto lock timer to 10 or 30 seconds.
  • Turn off vibrate alerts – Turn of the vibration settings in the sounds menu of your Android handset, even when your phone is set on silent. Vibrate alarms drain a lot of juice from your phone, not to mention quite annoying when you are driving and your phone starts vibrating in your pocket.

You have the option of creating an endless number of home screens, exploit it. Just do not create too many of them that it takes an eternity to rifle through every one of them.
  • Easy access to the customization menu – Instead of navigating through the settings menu, just tap and hold any blank space on your home screen and the customization window will pop right out. You can now modify how your phone's user interface looks and behaves; you can also install widgets from this menu.
  • Installing the Android power strip – Tap and hold a blank area on your home screen, choose widgets from the customization menu, and install the Google power strip. This widget allows you easy access to the battery eating features of smartphones; you can now easily turn on or off the phone's Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and others.
